Bow forestay repair

Post by Cathyalan »

Michel,

Thank you so much for pictures and measurements.
The work is done. I went with a one man shop, 35 years experience, know his stuff.
The repair looks better than the rest of the boat.
I also had him do some other cosmetic stuff and he did a great job and was very affordable.

For whatever reason the board will not allow me to attach pictures. I get a "Sorry, the board attachement quota has been reached."
But you can view the before and after photos at: www.cathyalan.com/bow.html

I thought all of the bow padeyes were mounted down close to the water line. If his was up near the head stay tang that would cause problems when the boat settles on the trailer after a recovery.

Yes, it certainly caused a problem. But we use it to anchor with...attaching a Danik hook to the bow padeye is very easy and simple with it that close to the gunwhale. Having to reach down that far if the padeye was as low as the the one in the picture would be a bit of a stretch. How do you anchor?

Alan,
We anchor (and moor) to the bow cleat. When at the mooring, we run two lines, one over either side of the bow. At anchor, we just run one.
