as you could see , i have started to make the rollerwall for the kitchen storage . in this way there will be possible to lift it and get access to the storage without removing the wall for the bedroom ...if i want to keep stay in my bed :)))
so this is a preview for testing and further study , how it looks ?

going further with the dishes and the kitchen storage. in the lower part i want to place all the dishes : 6 glasses , 6 soups , 6 mains and 6 desert . first i have build the back wall and the left side . on this walls i have made the shelf for the plates . everything is made from forex in different thickness as it needs , thin on the walls and thicker on the shelf. after a few different options i have found one that seems to be more than enough space and also can keep everything compact .the layout , which had gave me some white nights , because i have to think of a lot of things ...

1. in the left side near the glasses will be the water pipe for washing .
2. in the most left corner above the sink i will cut out and make two round holders ( like a glass) one for the washing sponge and one for detergent (look on the previous pics and you will see that there is a small space between the wall and the fiberglass ama fixing point structure) .
3. on the first floor near the plates will stay the salt , pepper and some other goodies .
4. on the 3rd floor there is space even for 2l tall bottles so here will be oil , vinigar , sugar , coffe , coffe expresso , tea and all these things ...

i am happy with it ...

this is not finished like in details , but to have a general idea of the layout . for me it is important to go further with the work after i have found a solution at each part of the cabin refit and come back later again with the final touches.

here it is ! :)

now , on the lower side of the kitchen :
1. left side drawer will be for small cutlery :forks , knives , spoons etc . there is enough space for a small drawer between the front wall and the sinks 40cm wide x 10cm tall and 25cm deep
2. right drawer it is a blank one just for the design and can be flipped when using the oven
3. left side flip door it is for large cooking utensils : spatule , grill fork etc...long things which will hang in hooks inside of the door. this will open like 10-15cm enough to reach everything.
4. in right side flip door will be the trash storage ! i really don't know how it was the original layout of the kitchen , but i didn't find any trash ... and i think it is important to have a trash bag near your cooking area when you make some eggs or potatoes or anything ! so here it is ...not very big but enough to finish what you need to do and after that throw it to the main trash

there are many other things which i had to think about but i won't enter in details . in the end kitchen and the layout process took about 40 days ... the thinking was double the work itself but this is the major problem in a project like this !

well these are the main things regard the kitchen . at this point i have stopped working on it because everything is settled out and moved into another area of the boat

let's go further with the project , moving to the doors...

and the story in short . i have stated that i want to sleep 4 in 2 double berths which is already half finished and half in my mind . also i want the these two beds to have some privacy and it will be by a 3 part removable plywood wall and this is again in my mind . now how about using the toilet during night time ? my goal is that everybody in any moment can go and use the toilet without interfering with somebody else ... this was a lot of thinking and made different scenarios . the final conclusion was that i will need an entrance from the outside to the bathroom and here it is how:
1. two people sleep in the double in front
2. two people sleep in the double in the cabin . this bed will also be foldable from the two seats face to face and meet in the middle upon the table
3. bathroom i have decide to build it in the left side at the entrance
3. so in this way the entrance in the toilet is not possible during night if 4 persons on board because of the cabin bed . also is not possible to cross the cabin from the main reason . i know there are a lot of boats that have this compromise and allot of them with the toilet under the bed which seems for me the worst configuration ever ... no offence but i can't accept that during my sleep some else except my woman to ask me kindly to move my head 10" to the side because he need to use the toilet in front of me :)))
4. these are prime factors i have in my mind and i have came with this solution: toilet in the left side at the entrance , out side door , the two in the cabin can simply exit the main door into the cockpit and enter in the toilet , the two in front will exit through the hatch on top of the boat , walk on the roof or on the deck till the cockpit and same in the bathroom . at first site seems a bit complicated and difficult , but is not ! because of the tall level of the front bed , exiting through the hatch is very easy ! also it is large enough for a 180cm tall and 90kg man to use it without trouble at all ! if there will be a larger man than this he has to sleep in the cabin :))) but anyway this bed and this front area is designed for me and i don't think that in future 20 years i will have any problem with getting larger ... too much calories burning because of "quicksilver" behavour , my friends are telling me ... :)))

so after few days of simulation , study , drawing etc ...i have started !

first i have cut the wall out where the two doors will be . my layout it is quite nice because i can make single door even a little bit larger than the original one and this is a plus for comfort ! next i have curved a steel square tube 50x30x2mm to make a reinforcement in the top . was drilled for better fiberglass grip , 4 layers of fiber glass around it . after this i have popped 10cm space between 5mm rivets on both sides and again another 2 layers of fiber . i forgot to mention that at the ends of this structure i have welded two verticals from the same material which go down along the wall till they meet with the ama hindge piramid. in this way i consider that i have bound the two sides and can handle more than enough effort ! this same type of structure i have under the mast where the forsec are greater than here and the original was not even so well reinforced in fiber glass like this . anyway i will work in that area in the future too ... never now when i will want larger sails :)

here is the steel structure glassed and popped. now you can see clearly the upside down "L" shape at the ends binding into the pyramid.

main opening pretty much finished ... again a lot of sanding :D . was very difficult because i need it to be perfect mirror shape because of the two doors concept laying one over the other ... i will explain this in the next post

now the two doors concept ... this will be long and i will try to explain as much as i can and best way possible :

1. staying into the cockpit looking forward , on the felt bathroom door , on the right cabin door
2. during day time i would like to keep the cabin door open if i want to . if i put the hinges on the right and open the door to the right is not good because it will interfere with the right side sitting place . so i need it to flip to the left side which means i need hinges in the center of the opening .
3. bathroom door same situation ... i want to keep it open if i will take a quick shower in the cockpit and not down into the bath , also for cleaning the bath etc . opening to the left side is not an option ! so again i need it to flip to the right and have a center hinge ...

now comes the interesting part...two doors , one center hinge system , each of the doors to be able to flip on top of the other one ! more than this i need a fixing pole in the center of the opening where to put this hinges and also be strong enough when you leave your weight on it entering the cabin or the bathroom...imagine a butterfly wings :) or opposite to a western bar doors !

a pen and allot of paper :))) drawing and drawing ...and drawing ! finally i have came up with a project but this is very difficult for me to explain . it is something like a pipe , sectioned in the two places were i want to have the hinges , so we now have a pipe split in 3 parts. at each split there is an insertion pipe smaller in diameter that goes in the main and in the ens will be welded . so now we have like this looking along : one short large pipe which is one end , after a short smaller diam pipe which will be basicaly the hinge bolt , after again large diam pipe and long till the other end when it is again smaller diam for the other "hinge bolt " and again large diam for the end ... get it ? :) . on to the smaller diameter places there will be the insertion of the hinges on which will weld the sheets for fixing the doors ... this is my best way of explaining possible for me in english ...

hope the pictures will demonstrate ...
in this way everything that i need is solved and not forgeting about the design ! for me is one of the most important things that everything has to look right and function as well !!! so cabin door can be flipped on the bathroom door day time , can access the bath opening door after door or even the two together , can keep the bathroom door open onto the cabin door . the only thing which is not possible is to have them both open at the same time and not to be in the way ... but let's get serious this is more than enough for a boat ...it's not a space shuttle ! :))))

the fun part ! real testing ! :)

i have build the pole from stainless steel , skipping here some welding and grinding details , i have made a testing door (only one because if one goes the other will follow :)) , made the fixing points of the pole and everything is ready !
position 1 : cabin door closed , bathroom door hinge in close position .
position 2 : cabin door opens and goes toward the left side onto the bathroom door
position 3 : cabin door closed onto the bathroom door . normal position during daytime let's say . if you want to use the bathroom you can siimply open both together because they share the same center of rotation they can go like this , or take them one by one . entering the bathroom and close them after you .

if i want to keep the bathroom open is working vice-versa ...

and a few more close detail pics...

i hope now it clears . this is the major presentation of the system. in reality it was much difficult because there are some relations between the diameter of the pipe and the thickness of the doors so they both sandwiched don't get thicker than the pipe ...etc . and there will be an aluminum frame for the door plywood and i had to get into equation also :)
