Hello Skippers
Does anybody looked at the possibility, availability of an in Boom"roller furler system for the 28? After all The Mac 26M now has one and for more mature skippers this is a convenient way to control the main.
Any Ideas?
Tks

Re: in boom reefing system
I suppose that it could work, but with some slight problems or required modifications.
For example, the main's reinforced and larger roach could be a little too big to get into the boom and you may have to re-cut or modify the sail. Lowering the mast with the much heavier boom in place could also be more difficult. Some of the newer boats have a double jointed gooseneck setup which you would lose or have to modify as well. I doubt if the optional laminated sails (Kevlar) could roll up like this. Mine are still siff as cardboard after about 5 years.
The externally rolled furling boom as used in many of the Farrier and Corsair boats could be easier to do. I've got an 84 year old friend here in Florida who still single-hands his Corsair 24.
