Thanks for the update and clarification of photos. I great idea that should work really well. On my 8m I used a lines on both port and starboard that I snap onto the boom end when I need a jibe preventer or sail shape control. Obviously not the best solution if you need to unsnap one of the the lines in a hurry. It worked OK as a boom preventer and excelled with mainsail shape control especially off the wind.

I am thinking that your system with the addition of snap hook to the boom might have the added functionality of stowage when not needed.
