I found a climbing device that works great for reefing. It is a quickdraw sling. The small end has a rubber insert that is a nice tight fit over one side of the reefing horn. It can then stay in place. You can then pass the larger end through the reefing cringle and over other reefing horn. Easy to use and quite cheap, mine cost $5. Here is a link the to company who manufactured the ones I purchased. http://www.ocun.cz/en/products/slingsvi ... 11-mm.html .

Escape,
Would you please explain how you use this vang/preventer.
Also does the friction from the rappelling device act as a brake to slow the boom swing?
Thanks
Geoffrey
