opinions on the "screecher"

Post by Jerry »

Company name was mauriprosailing.com

This is from the e-mail receipt:

CH65016 Schaefer Free-Furling System 650 - Furling Drum 1 $44.20 $44.20
Shipping:UPS Ground: $9.70

Mine came with 4 screw holes and mounted directly to pre drilled and taped holes in the bottom of the drum. The photo on the Mauri web site for the same part number looks different so I would make sure they are still supplying what Schaefer shows on their web site as a 650-16. Photo on Schaefer site is what I received.

opinions on the "screecher"

Hello All,

Long time no post from me. I did have problems with my screecher until I noticed that the upper swivel had a slight scratching sound when spun by hand. I had checked it several times and it always spun freely by hand with no load so I thought it was good. Then I noticed that the halyard above the swivel was twisting up when I tried to stow the sail. After I tested the swivel under load I saw that it had failed. A quick call to the manufacturer and they replaced it free of charge and I never had a problem since. I used this sail just about every trip and race even single handed.
