South Florida Cruising

Well it's another brutally hot August day here in Miami, but I'm thinking about the nice "winter" weather coming up in a few months. As such, I'd appreciate hearing about fun cruising grounds in South Florida and a bit further up the West Coast of Florida. The more specifics the better. Many thanks...Philip (Tropical)

Philip,

If you have not experienced the areas around Pensacola, FL you really need to. Anyone could spend a couple years with all the areas to gunhole between Cedar Key and Mobile, AL. There are many bays and protected waters, salt, brackish and fresh. Bridges for the most part are 50' or higher at mean high tide, so there are no restricted areas to speak of. You can even get up a few rivers that have swing bridges. It is a wonderful area here and I think our beaches compete with those on the islands.
