outboard and insurance advice needed please

Hi All i have recently purchased a mk1 telstar and need to buy an engine before launch in march, can anyone tell what engines they have installed in there mk1 and how they perform.
Also i am having trouble insuring her can anyone advise on brokers in the uk.

Sorry I didn't see this before. Most older boats used a long shaft 9.9hp yamaha or Honda. I have seen engines up to 20hp used on them.

How did the insurance issue work out.

I used a Suzuki 9.9 HP oil injected long shaft 2 stroke which was a great choice. Very reliable and lighter than any of the other motors. But with today’s emission standards may no longer be available. Have you considered an electric outboard? They have limits but if you can keep weight off the ends of the Telstar it will reduce hobby horsing. Also my 8M was such a good sailor that a motor was only needed if the wind died and for docking. I did add a connection between the rudder and the motor. Very important when trying to dock in crosswind because of the Telstar’s windage and light weight. Also having the center board down when docking is essential.
