I've been thinking [for several years now!] of switching from a monohul to a Tri. Second-hand Telstars were a stong contender [I don't have loads of cash] but one chap on here said that he was disapointed in their windward performance in seas bigger than 3 ft, mainly I think due to deck slamming. I'm a Daysailer and seas are rarely bigger than 3ft when I'm out [west coast Scotland]. Would some of you owners care to tell me if thats something that I should be factoring in to my decision whether to buy one or not.

John, for your sailing I wouldn't worry about it at all. It takes serious seas and a heavily-loaded boat to be significant - keeping the bow light (e.g., don't keep an anchor and chain up there) and avoid loading the boat with 'stuff' and you'll be fine to enjoy your beautiful sailing areas.
