Hey Trashpad. It's the rare Marina version and yes they swing in like the T28. I believe it was the fist Tri to ever do so.

Cheers Harvey.

Is your Telstar in Falmouth? is that the maritime museum in the background . I'm in the Exe estury with another 2 Telstars 26s in our club - Starcross Y C. Probably the biggest fleet
in Western Europe! Its good to see another telstar on the water. I got infatuated by multihulls after helping a friend build a 32ft cat. They seem to make so much sense as a crusing
boat. My Telstar is a standard MK 2 in fairly good condition. Just scrubing the bottom - before I put it on the water, I antifouled it with "Coppercoat" and so far it hasn't been out of the water for 3 years. During the winter it lives in the Exeter Canal - fresh water, so all the marine organisms die and summer in the estury all the freshwater things die.

Good Luck and Happy Sailing

Hey Andy.
Lovely boat! Yes, you're right it was pictured at falmouth, it's previous home. We have now sailed her to her new home here in Pembrokeshire. Awesome trip round the Lizard, Lands end, Cape Cornwall, Trevose head, then 80m across the Bristol channel to Milford haven. There where quite some seas off some of those headlands and it has filled me with confidence how the Telstar handled it. We were also escorted for large parts across the bristol channel by huge pods of dolphins. Must have been around a hundred at a time. They seem to love the boat!

Harvey,

Very nice looking Telstar. And interesting modifications. It appears that one modification that has not been mentioned is a daggerboard. Is that correct? If so would please provide some details like draft when the board is up and when down etc.

Thanks

Hi harvey

Glad you made it back safely nd good to hear you r coments about how your Telstar handles. Looking forward to seeing some pictures of her. I have managed some sailing in HUSH, with her new transom and I'll post results on the Stern Extension thread.

Cheers Joe. There are a few pics of her on this thread and lots more on the link I posted on one of the earlier posts. If there are any pics in particular you would like to see that are not shown on the above then let me know. Would be interesting to hear how your extension has affected performance. Having never sailed another telstar, or any any other boat for that matter, it's impossible for me to say how effective my mods are...

Hi Marina,

Having just concluded a deal for a Telstar 8m I now feel able to speak. Buying boats seems as fraught and difficult as buying a house. I feel I may have been responsible for your worries over 'Last Tri' albeit unwittingly. I also viewed 'Last Tri' and even negotiated a purchase price. I offered a deposit and asked that a survey be carried out before concluding the deal. To my surprise this was refused so the deal was terminated. Because she was in such good condition inside, I phoned a week later to see if I could move forward somehow. It was only then he admitted he has already sold it previous to my visit. I only hope he did not use that as leverage to increase the price. It cost me a few bob to go down there, so you can imagine I was cross to find it was not actually for sale at the time i inspected her. I should have twigged something was wrong as he didn't really answer any of my questions. My wife was quicker that me on that score! In hindsight I would have had reservations about the rudder not retracting easily as I am a creek crawler, and the daggerboard in the cabin was quite intrusive.
I wish you great sailing in her, she should be a good performer.

And so to mine. Seeing 'Last Tri' actually raised my expectations, and finding one of the same standard is not easy. I have not yet seen two the same. So I have ended up with a complete wreck and have embarked on a renovation project which should result in a modern smart presentation.

It is a Mk3, sail No198, built about 1980 and has been sitting on a factory forecourt for the last 10 years or so. The only water it has seen has come from the sky and found its way into every part.

I have one or two questions to ask you guys if you can help.
I suspect it may be one of the light weight models as the standard of finish is not that great. For example there is not a single backing pad on any of the deck fittings. Anyone know how you can tell?

Underneath the forward bunk is a short post about 20cm high covered in fibreglass. Was this used in production or does it have a use.

The mast, unusually, has a wire brace on the forward face, to prevent bending I presume. Does anyone know what the mast rake should be when set up correctly?

I expect I will have more question for all, but for now, happy sailing, and I hope the wind blows fair for you all.

Hi Jo,
The name is said to be 'Morning Star'. The Hull has been painted british racing green, alas the non slip deck areas have been painted pink! I am tempted to call it the pink panther!
I have a mooring off Cobnor, Chichester. I had to change my mooring to accommodate the beast as the Bosham quaymaster would not allow it on my old mooring. Too tightly packed for one thing, and swinging characteristics was another excuse. That has cost me a few extra shillings, but it is now a deep water mooring.
I don't expect to be on the water until next year.
Regards
Jonathan
