Advice about some cracks

Post by mterrett »

Hello,
I am new to the Telstar boat and when looking at one I found some suspicious cracks in the forward starboard beam. It this something that can be only a gelcoat crack or Telstar boat are know for such issues ?

Also the deck to hull joint seems missing some filler, I supposed it's normally filled with 3M 5200 or equivalent ?

Hopping those are nothing serious.

In my amateur opinion both of these issues are cosmetic and not structural.

I have the same separation as well as a number of spider cracks and voids in different parts of the boat. My boat was built in 2005 and nothing structural has been compromised. The boat was very well engineered but, unfortunately, was poorly executed in the manufacturing process. I've been addressing these issues since I purchased the boat. What overcomes these issues, is that the boat performs well on the water and I never had any major structural problems.
