Best Repair Shops - Structure and Amas Mechanism

Post by sebrof »

It's not an understatement to write that the average repair shop isn't very familiar with the Telstar 28 design. I have some repair work to be done to the starboard amas, mechanism wasn't retracted properly and appears to have put too much tork on the hinge. The marina has never worked on a Telstar and I don't feel like paying $100.00 per hour for them to learn. I'm willing to trailer the boat anywhere along the USA Eastern Seaboard or along the shores of Lake Ontario, Lake Erie or St. Lawrence. Can anyone recommend a shop with Telstar 28 experience? Much appreciated.

You might want to contact Tony Smith or Will Hershfeld (his son in law) and find out if there is anyone that needs a job and worked on the Telstars down in Annapolis. Also, you might try reaching Dan Kim who used to do a ton of Telstar postings and blogs. (http://blog.dankim.com/). When I first got my Telstar, Will and Dan were huge assets and knew the boat inside and out. They may be able to recommend someone for help.
