Talking about the boats in general, that don't fit in the other categories.

EPA 15% ethanol comments

Post by Ron »

Do yourself a big favor and go to the Boat/US site below to comment against the EPA's possible allowance of 15% (and future 25%) ethanol content in ALL of our gasoline. The current 10 percent rule is already damaging our motors, outboard or otherwise, and reducing mileage. 15% and then 25% will finish them off. Major problem is that ethanol will absorb water which will eventually damage the motor and fuel lines - and probably void your Honda engine warranty, extended or otherwise. it's simple to do - just enter your name, address and email id which will be sent to the EPA, along with a statement asking that they test the engines with this ethanol content before they inact the rule. The ethanol lobby is attempting to push this through congress, and we have to make the EPA test some of this stuff first. You have until July 20, 2009 to stop this from happening.

This is one of the reasons why EVERY boater should belong to Boat/US. It's a lot more than an occasional free tow thru TowBoat/US. They represent our interests at both the Federal and State levels. If you join and are a member of this association costing you $10 per year, you will save $12.50 per year on your Boat/US dues. If you REALLY are a boater, this is a no-brainer.
