Do you carpet the trailer hull bunks and support pads?

I just purchased a Telstar 28. The next order of business is towing her home. In reading the manual it is recommended to put carpet on the bunks and support pads. Is that what people do or are there other, better solutions? Thanks!

Hi, I have some kind of felt and I add this plastic material (crazy carpet), it seems to help pulling the boat to it's place on the trailer. I don't have padding on the support pad but I should and I will.

Sorry no picture, the board attachment quota has been reached.

Welcome to the Telstar family!

When I bought my Telstar the previous owner took some indoor outdoor carpet and a roll of duct tape and attached the carpet to the trailer pads. Not a very fancy install, but it seems to work great and is still on there. I am sure you would get some rubbing on the hull without it. I would send you a pic, but I have never figured out how to attach one to a reply.

Good luck and hope you have as much fun with your boat as I have!

The factory had added felt on the main two bunks but I replaced that material with indoor/outdoor carpet which I adhered using 3M spray adhesive. In fact I added pieces of carpet to all the pads and bunks on the trailer. With all the weather we have had on the East Coast the carpet remains intact.

Thanks all! I ended up getting some pretty flexible carpet remnants and carpeted and duct tape all of my pads. Worked great and I will just leave them on until I need to replace them. I love the boat!
