I believe one way water gets past the hatches is past the "dogs" toggles or whatever you want to call the 3 devices that turn to hold the hatch closed. They sit in depressions in the hatch, which fill with water. There are small O-rings that are supposed to seal the shaft that connects the T handle on the outside of the hatch to the locking portion on the inside. Mine were worn enough to leak. I've tried some Teflon pipe thread paste, which bills itself as non-hardening. You have to press out a stainless pin, which holds the piece together. This seems to have greatly reduced the water ingress, at least for this season.

I want to do a bottom paint of Hull #382 on my trailer. What is the best way to open the amas up and close when finished while on the trailer? I can move the boat about 20" to 22" on my trailer for complete painting. Thank you very much Steve Hull #382
