Leaking knot meter sensor

Post by Ron »

Big difference in the fix -

Is the leak coming from outside the transducer housing (outer case), where it was attached to the hull with a bedding compound? If yes, you may have to remove it, clean it up, and re-install. You could try sealing the area under the bottom nut first, but that may not be a permanent fix. Better to remove the housing and start over. Don't use strong solvents on the plastic housing.

Or thru the threads of the upper big plastic nut used to hold the paddle wheel transducer inside the housing. Replace nut and/or washers. Also check threads of housing - if damaged, see above. You should NEVER have to use a wrench on this, and using one could easily cause damage.

Also putting mine in this year I found cracks in the o ring so I replaced with the o ring from the blank and I am ordering a couple spares.

Most Raymarine dealers should be able to order the parts. Maybe try the Raymarine web site or call them?
