When I had Buen Tiempo's bottom done, they cut my rudder lines to remove and paint the rudder. What a pain to run those again! I did the best I could based on the diagram in the manual, but would feel a whole lot better if I could see some pictures of the way the lines actually attach to the rudder. The "up rudder" line passes through some very difficult to access holes; how is it attached? There seems to be little room for a true stopper knot, but a simple overhand knot just doesn't seem adequate. What's used there?

Fred,
I never did get any responses, so ended up spending a fair amount of time studying the diagram and comparing it to the boat. It all went well in the end. I used a simple overhand knot as a stopper at the rudder itself. That seemed to work all last season. I would post a picture, but Buen Tiempo is in winter storage.

There is a similar thread under the Mechanical Systems forum. That's where I put some suggestions.
