Dome lights

I need to replace one of the Sea Dog dome lights, I’m ready to order but nowhere near the boat. Anyone know what size they are? A measured outer diameter would be great. Thanks in advance.

Also, I’m planning to replace it with LED. Anybody done this? I’m worried it will be too bright at night and ruin my night vision.

I will be over at my boat in a while. I will get you the size of the dome light and the light I used. I replaced mine with LED, and they are the same brightness as the regular light.

The Domelight is 6 3/4 inches across at the base. I purchased the LED replacement light from Dr. LED.com. It is the two pole model with the bayonet fitting. It is approximately 2 1/4 inches Long.
