Closing and Opening Amas When Sailing Alone

Post by Tri’d n Sail’d »

I have to keep my amas in while in my slip which means I have to open then after I pull out and close them before returning. It is quite a task when I’m alone and I usually end up on the very aft end of each ama so I can reach the cockpit locker lines in order to secure the amas. Has anyone learned any tricks for this when sailing alone?

I had the same problem. I sail alone and have to bring the amas in before I arrive at my slip. I ran lines port and starboard to the eyes at the front of the amas and back to the cockpit where I can bring the amas in without having to leave the cockpit. I can not seem to attach a photo as I get an error message saying that the board attachment quota has been reached. If you send me an e-mail I can send you some photos.
