Centerboard Maintenance

Post by occasion »

Does anyone know how to take the centerboard out?
I wanted to repaint it in its entirety but could not find the hinge pin/bolt.

I also noticed that the raising line coming from the roller is between the centerboard trunk and the starbard side of the centerboard. I was not able to move it from this position. I assume that it should be riding on the outside cirmcumfrence of the centerboard.

Comments? Help?

Tony and Will had released a video showing how to replace the center board. It's on the PCI website somewhere. Let me know if you can't find it.

I can't find the link either. I didn't save the video or it's url at PCI. I'll get it from WIll and post it here - or better still, we'll put it on our web site.

Ron—

Have Will e-mail it to me, and I'll put it up on the site.

This is the link to the 16 minute video on replacing the centerboard -

I'll ask Will for a copy that we can keep on our web site.

Bill - You also wrote "I also noticed that the raising line coming from the roller is between the centerboard trunk and the starbard side of the centerboard. I was not able to move it from this position. I assume that it should be riding on the outside cirmcumfrence of the centerboard."

Take a good look at the location of the drum and lines on the centerboard while watching the video. You'll get a good idea of where and how the line could have jumped out of the groove.

Can you remove the center board while the boat is on the trailer? If so how much open space will you need below the hull? Last question, should there be any side to side play in the center board or rudder?
