Honda 20 hp overheating

Post by onremlop »

My motor has been overheating after running for about 10 minutes. I have it in the slip and have flushed Salta
way through the intakes and the water coming out of the p hole is warm, not hot, so I think the impeller is fine. Any advice or ideas?

Is the stream of water out of the P hole reasonably strong? Or is it just dripping? How's the oil level when the motor is vertical?

You mentioned that you ran salt-away thru the intake. Have you hooked a garden hose up to the flush out port near the top of the motor? 50 psi or more of water pressure may free up any blockage inside. I tend to do this after every sail. I usually wind up with a higher flow out of the P hole when I re-start it the next day.
