Honda lower unit seals

Just a heads up on the lower unit seals on the Honda 50. The lower seal on my Honda 50 leaked due to fishing line entrapment. I thought this would be a trivial job. Unfortunately, this was not the case. These engines are renowned for hang a locking ring that corrodes and fuses with the lower hit itself. It took 3 1200˚C heating cycles and a special tool to do it. Try to do it yourself at your own peril. Some locking rings corrode so badly that they crack the lower case so you may want to routinely inspect the ring for corrosion (mine looked fine). Ended up a $700 job (lower and upper seals, impeller, impeller housing base and one bearing).
